In early 2005, John put together his own band, made up of some of the finest musicians from the local New Jersey music scene. In rehearsals, the band developed a unique sound of organ-driven, improvisational, well-crafted American songwriting laced with Latin rhythms, gospel, and southern soul guitar, described once as 'Outlaw Gospel'. In October, the band embarked on its first run of shows, teaming up with San Francisco-based supergroup Jemimah Puddleduck comprised of Mark Karan (Bob Weir, Ratdog), John Molo (Phil Lesh, John Fogerty), J.T. Thomas (Bruce Hornsby), and Bob Gross (Albert King).
